Consulting Business Logo
My recent logo for a consulting business was chosen from among dozens of other designer proposals. An abstract and minimalist approach suggesting a soaring and a break-out of the routine to achieve goals. Shown in business card form here, the colors coordinate with their current website. The font letters are modern with certain letters echoing the angle of the design element.
Sunny Day Dog Logo
Mid-year of 2015 this winning logo was chosen as best in show. A company logo for a local dog care and grooming business. This was a fun logo to work on. Getting the right stance, weight and age of the dog was time-consuming but well worth the effort for my client.
Church Building Campaign Logo
Here is another recent winning logo for the Earle St. Baptist church's building campaign. The sunrise is a promise of a new day and the fields are abstractly suggested on a rolling landscape in the foreground. Warm and inviting colors add to the appeal along with a classy, modified font. My suggested scripture passage was also welcomed as a way for the congregation to support the program.
Website Logo for Sport Fishing
Before the end of the past year, I created a logo for fishing enthusiasts who fish from specially equipped kayaks. It is a popular activity and the logo needed to suggest action, encompassing both fishing and kayaks. The logo suggests an early morning or late evening outing when waters are more calm. My modified font reflects the outdoorsy and casual realm of the participants.
Women's Conference Logo
Putting the wraps on 2015, this is my winning logo for an annual women's conference. A clean and simple design with added cleverness of the coffee's steam doubling as a female figure. There is a stark contrast between the fonts with the handwritten style reflecting the relaxed atmosphere of the conference. The colors add sophistication to the overall design.

New Biz for Liz
Starting a new business can be scary and exciting at the same time. I must say, Elizabeth was very excited about this logo I designed. It seemed to fit her needs perfectly. After seeing a few excellent submissions from other designers around the world, I was humbled to be chosen winner. Perhaps there is some validity in providing the client what they want while not necessarily creating a ground-breaking design.

Getting a rush out of Speed Painters
There are some gifted artists who do these "graphic, commercial illustrations." There's a formula for it. There's a lot of practice. But these painters usually do them upside down, making it difficult for an audience to guess the subject. Just rotate and amaze. This artist knew what he wanted to do months before arriving, I would guess. The beret helps.
I think Leroy Neiman would have cringed at the speed. A lot of these speeder's end results remind me of some Neiman commercial illustrations. A minimalist approach to light and shadow. Maybe it's the rush today to be famous or be noticed. I can hear it, "I paid a grand for THAT one. And it only took the artist two minutes."
Michelangelo would be inconsolable if he were alive. A flood of tears and hair pulling.
